Chris has overall responsibility for delivery and development of digital, data and technology services across the Defra group. He recently led the replacement of the two prime contracts for ICT in Defra, moving to a multi-supplier model and insourcing service integration, ensuring that sustainability was taken into account in the requirements and evaluation. Prior to this he was Director of Corporate Information Services at the Environment Agency, where he oversaw a major transformation of desktop and hosting environments as well as modernising the organisation’s approach to application development. He has held a variety of operational and corporate roles in environmental delivery organisations with a focus on the effective use of technology to manage emissions from major industries and improve environmental quality. He was also previously an ISO14001 assessor and EMAS lead verifier with Lloyd’s Register of Shipping.
